ABOUT EVA
Eva Markham begins their newest album as a supersonic acrobat and finishes a stone.
Markham interrogates the infinite “I am” tirelessly – her quick witted lyricism packs an intimately emotional punch, calling on bugs and birds and brains and earth to navigate the complexity of being.
Always an avid writer and performer, Eva caught a particular creative fervor (fever) during the COVID-19 pandemic, and entered into a new phase of creation. As she delves further into questions of existence, growth, earthly and energetic relationships, and simply writing pretty songs with clever lyrics, Eva’s musical groove remains resistant to classification. When one song seems ready to settle, the next stretches and morphs its form and genre, puncturing boundary holes with tiny explosions of musical insight and experimentation.
Eva’s intricate lyrics and mature vocals typically dance atop a simple guitar accompaniment and though she flits back and forth between ballads and ditties, you can always count on Eva’s dream-like vocalise to come spinning and soaring through oohs and ahhs—her take on an instrumental solo. You may find elements of other powerful musicians woven into Eva’s discography, from people like Heather Maloney, Joni Mitchell, Indigo De Souza, The Chicks, Lana Del Ray, or Björk.
A long time coming: Eva has come out with their first official demo album, titled LONG SONG DEMO PROJECT. Self-recorded and produced, the album features nine songs made of two deceptively simple elements each: vocal and guitar. The track list is comprised of songs from a span of 4 years, and illustrates many of Eva's conceptual and musical
motifs through that time. The album is currently available for CD purchase, and streaming on SoundCloud or Bandcamp.
Eva Markham is a singer and songwriter from rural Western Massachusetts, currently based in St. Paul, Minnesota.
